Remo Stars goalkeeper Serge Obassa has been named in Benin Republic’s 30-man provisional squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, further cementing his rise as one of the country’s most reliable shot-stoppers, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Obassa, who joined Remo Stars at the start of the 2024/25 season, has quickly established himself at the club and remains a trusted option for the Cheetahs. He is listed alongside experienced goalkeepers Saturnin Allagbe and Dandjinou Marcel.

Head coach Gernot Rohr has retained a strong core of senior players as Benin prepares for what they hope will be a competitive showing at the continental tournament. Captain Steve Mounié, Mohamed Tijani, Olivier Verdon, Djodel Dossou, Junior Olaitan and Tosin Aiyegun are among the notable names included in the provisional list.

Rohr is expected to trim the squad to 25 players next week ahead of a training camp scheduled to begin on Wednesday, December 10, in Ben Slimane, Morocco. Benin have been drawn in Group D, where they will face Senegal, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Botswana.
