Resilient Flamingos Promise Brighter Future As Team Arrive Abuja Saturday Morning

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, returned to the country in the early hours of Saturday after completing their campaign at the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The team arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at exactly 5:30 a.m., having flown in from Casablanca following their exit from the tournament’s second round.

Despite progressing from the group stage as one of the best third-placed teams, the Flamingos’ journey ended after a 4–1 defeat to Italy in the Round of 16.

A team official, speaking on arrival, reflected on the team’s performance and the lessons from the global competition.

 “Yes, our World Cup journey has come to an end, but certainly not the end of our growth. The lessons learned will fuel our drive to return stronger and better in the next edition,” the official said.

The Flamingos’ participation in Morocco marked another opportunity for Nigeria’s young talents to gain international experience, as preparations are expected to begin soon for future continental and global engagements.
