Review Of 2025/26 NPFL First Stanza At Week 19
Sampson Adedeji
The first stanza of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season has been concluded, with statistics from Week 19 underlining the continued dominance of home advantage across the league, BSNSports.com.ng reports
A total of 190 matches were played during the opening half of the campaign, producing 349 goals at an average of 1.83 goals per match. Home teams recorded 127 victories, while 35 matches ended in draws.
Only 28 away wins were achieved, further emphasizing the difficulty of securing results on the road in the NPFL.
In terms of away performances, Elkanemi Warriors have now joined the list of teams that have managed to secure victories away from home this season.
Their success on the road provides a contrast to the struggles of some established sides.
Kwara United, Kano Pillars, and Plateau United remain without an away win after 19 matches, highlighting a key area of concern as the league prepares for the second stanza of the season.
With the first half of the campaign now complete, attention will shift to how teams adjust tactically and mentally in the second stanza, particularly in improving away form, which could prove decisive in the title race and relegation battle.
