Ridwan 'Scorpion' Takes Two Ibadan Boxers to Japan

Ibadan-born and Japanese-based boxer Ridwan “Scorpion” Oyekola has revealed he has facilitated the development of two indigenous boxers by ensuring they move over with him to Japan.

Ridwan, who is on vacation in Ibadan made this known while featuring on an exclusive interview on BCOS TV’s Saturday Breakfast Sports program anchored by Boluwaji Ogunmola.

Accompanied by his Manager, Olusola Ayodele, Ridwan was quoted saying: “I have a plan for people who are coming up. So my template now in Japan, I’ve made sure that the visa for two boxers have been approved and they have been called to pick up the visas on Monday in Abuja. I love to see people grow.”    

 Olusola Ayodele, popularly known as Sola Ford, recalled that Ridwan had his first international exposure in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

He also pointed out that Ridwan’s doggedness made him (Ford) believe that training with modern facilities will assist Ridwan in taking the world by storm. Scorpion's manager further went on to state that Ridwan's quest for better exposure took him to Japan where more potentials were unlocked in him where he defeated the then Japanese number one. 

Oyekola has so far engaged in five fights in eight months where he had four wins and a draw.

Ridwan made it known that it took huge efforts for him to acclimatize to the Japanese environment as it afforded him the chance to train with world class facilities.

Ridwan Oyekola, at the end of his interview, appreciated the Oyo State governor Engr. Seyi Makinde and BCOS TV Sports Unit for their support towards his growth and promised to bring more laurels to the Pacesetter State.
