Nigeria Super Falcons forward Rinsola Babajide has expressed her disappointment following the team’s campaign at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), while shifting attention to the upcoming Olympic Games qualifiers, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Super Falcons suffered a setback in their quest for a place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup after failing to secure qualification through the continental route.

Babajide, who was part of Nigeria’s squad at the tournament, admitted that missing out on a World Cup ticket was painful but remained grateful for the opportunity to represent the country at another WAFCON.

"Heartbroken to say the least. It really hurts to miss out on a World Cup spot but grateful for the opportunity to represent my country at yet another WAFCON," Babajide wrote.

"Unfortunately, it didn’t go the way we’d have liked it to have gone. We might be down right now but we’ll definitely bounce back, the only way we know how to, the Naija way."

The attacker added that the team must now regroup, reflect on their performance and prepare for the next challenge.

"Time to reset, reflect and work ahead towards the Olympic qualifiers," she stated.

Babajide also thanked the supporters who backed the team throughout the tournament, both at the stadiums and from home.

"Thank you to everyone who supported us both in the stands and from home through it all. The journey has been real."

The Super Falcons will now turn their attention to the Olympic Games qualifiers as they look to secure a place at the next edition of the women’s football tournament.
