Rising Super Eagles Talent Makes Historic Switch to Czech Champions
By Niyi Busari
Nigerian youth international Salim Fago Lawal has completed a transfer from Croatian club Istra 1961 to Czech champions Viktoria Plzeň, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The club has confirmed that the 19-year-old successfully underwent a medical examination in Plzeň on Monday before signing his contract on Tuesday morning, finalising the move.
The transfer represents a landmark deal for both clubs. It is a historic acquisition for Viktoria Plzeň and a record sale for Istra 1961, underlining Lawal’s rapid rise and growing reputation in European football.
Lawal, who has featured for Nigeria at under-20 level, was part of the Super Eagles squad at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco but did not make any appearance during the tournament.
The versatile youngster is expected to join Plzeň’s first-team setup immediately as the club prepares for domestic and European commitments.
