A fierce transfer battle is brewing among three Nigeria Premier Football League clubs as they seek to secure the signature of Wikki Tourists striker Jonathan Mairiga following his outstanding 2025/26 campaign, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Mairiga, who emerged as the NPFL's top scorer last season with 14 goals, has attracted interest from several clubs after playing a pivotal role for Wikki Tourists.

Notably, all 14 of his goals came from open play, underlining his attacking quality and consistency in front of goal.

According to reports, three clubs have already submitted contract proposals to lure the prolific forward away from Wikki Tourists.

Rivers United are believed to have tabled the most lucrative offer, proposing a monthly salary of ₦1.5 million alongside a ₦4 million sign-on fee.

Newly promoted Barau FC have also entered the race, offering the striker a monthly salary of ₦1 million as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

Meanwhile, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) have proposed a package that includes a monthly salary of ₦700,000, a ₦50,000 match bonus, and a ₦3 million sign-on fee.

The race for Mairiga's signature is expected to intensify in the coming weeks as the clubs attempt to convince one of the league's most sought-after forwards to join their respective projects.

With the 2026/27 season approaching, the striker's decision could prove to be one of the most significant transfer moves in the domestic league.
