Rivers United Attack Failed To Register A Shot On Target Against Young Africans
By Gbenga Gboyega
Nigeria Premier Football League defending champions Rivers United fell to the Young Africans from Tanzania at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Sunday afternoon via a two-nil scoreline, without registering a shot on target, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
The Pride of Rivers failed to score for the third time in the competition, following the first leg 3-0 defeat to Diables Noirs, and the 1-0 defeat to ASEC Mimosas in the final group stage game. However, neither of all 10 attempts at goal, was on target after 90 minutes.
Despite scoring eight goals so far in the CAFCC, the team has conceded seven which equals a 1+ goal difference tally in a league system, proving the team's below-par performance both in front of goal and defensively.
The team filed out in a 4-3-3 formation with the trio of Malachi Ohawuma, Chukwudi Ekeocha, and Nwangwa Nyima as the front three, however, the home side struggled to find joy in front of the goal.
Hopefully, the reverse is the case in seven days when the team travels to Tanzania for the return leg.
