Rivers United Departs Nigeria For DR Congo Ahead Of CAF Champions League Cracker

Nigeria's representatives in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, Rivers United, will depart the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos State for DR Congo, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Rivers United contingent, comprising players, technical crew, backroom staff, and officials, is led by Okey Kpalikwu for the trip to DR Congo.
The team is set to face FC Les Aigles du Congo in the first-round first-leg match of the CAF Champions League in Kinshasa.
The highly anticipated match is scheduled to take place at the 80,000-capacity Kinshasa-Complexe Omnisports Stade des Martyrs on Saturday, 20th September 2025, with kickoff slated for 3:30pm.
This encounter marks the first-ever meeting between both sides in any competition, adding an air of excitement and unpredictability to the fixture.
In a statement by the club's Media Officer, Mayuku Charles, "the team is determined to return with a decent result that will set them up favorably for the second leg on Sunday, 28th September."
