Rivers United FC has officially declared Seiyefa Jackson, a registered player for the 2024/2025 NPFL season, as Absent Without Leave (AWOL), according to BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Jackson, a graduate of the club’s Feeders team, initially cited illness as the reason for his absence.
However, after thorough medical evaluations, the club’s medical team found no evidence to support his claim.
Despite multiple attempts to reach him, Jackson has since gone into hiding and remains unresponsive to the club’s communications.
Additionally, Rivers United FC has discovered that Jackson has joined Ojodu City FC—an amateur/academy team—without securing the required clearance or approval.
This move constitutes a direct violation of his contractual obligations to the club.
The club has formally reported the matter to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), seeking urgent intervention.
Rivers United FC also expressed concern over the increasing trend of players breaching contracts and leaving their clubs without authorization.
“We appreciate the swift attention of the relevant authorities and look forward to a prompt resolution,” the club stated.
