Rohr Battle Makalele, Pitso For DR Congo Leopards Top Job

The Football Federation of the Democratic Republic of Congo has released a list of three shortlisted candidates for the vacant Leopards Head Coach position, BSNsports.com.ng has gathered.

Former coach of the team Hector Cuper was sacked after the team failed to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar, while the team is still struggling in the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Notable among the listed coaches is former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, Chelsea legend Claude Makalele and former Al Ahly of Egypt coach Pitso Mosimane.

Rohr was sacked as the coach of the Super Eagles on the eve of the 2021 African Cup of Nations due to poor performances and since then the Franco-German gaffer has been a free agent.

If he gets the appointment, DR Congo will be the 5th African country he will be coaching having handled Niger, Gabon, Burkina Faso and Nigeria in the past.
