Rohr Predicts Nigeria Vs DR Congo Final in World Cup Playoff

Former Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has predicted a Nigeria versus DR Congo final in the African World Cup playoff series to be held in Morocco, BSNSports.cim.ng reports.

Now in charge of the Benin Republic, Rohr offered his assessment of the qualifiers while speaking from Cotonou, expressing confidence in Nigeria’s chances of advancing past Gabon in their decisive clash on November 13.

“Gabon and Nigeria are two very good sides,” Rohr told NationSport. “Some of the Gabonese players are ones I worked with years ago, including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and captain Bruno Ecuele Manga. But Nigeria have stronger players overall. If they play collectively, as they did against Benin, I believe they can beat Gabon.”

Rohr, who also coached Gabon between 2010 and 2012, extended his predictions to the other semifinal, where Cameroon face DR Congo. The 72-year-old tactician believes DR Congo’s individual brilliance and Cameroon’s off-field challenges could tilt the balance. “It will be a tough game between Cameroon and DR Congo,” he noted. “But DR Congo have more individually talented players, and Cameroon’s administrative problems might affect their focus. I think the final could be between Nigeria and DR Congo.”

The winners of the CAF FIFA world cup playoff final will advance to the intercontinental playoff in Mexico in March, where the champions of the African playoffs ultimately face other teams from other continents to secure ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
