Rwanda Giant Pull Out Of African Basketball League

Rwandan powerhouse APR BBC have withdrawn from the 2026 season of the Basketball Africa League, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The development means the Kigali-based side will no longer participate in this year’s competition and will be replaced before the start of the Kalahari Conference group phase.

The Kalahari Conference is scheduled to tip off on March 27 in South Africa.

Organisers of the BAL confirmed that a replacement team will be announced ahead of the opening games to ensure the competition structure remains intact.

APR were initially expected to compete in the conference stage as one of the representatives from Rwanda, but their withdrawal has forced the league to make last-minute adjustments before the tournament begins.

The 2026 BAL season will feature teams from across the continent battling for continental supremacy across different conference phases before the playoffs.
