South African Football Association (SAFA) President Danny Jordaan has congratulated Nigeria’s Flamingos on their impressive victory over South Africa in the U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Flamingos dominated the two-legged tie, securing a 5-1 aggregate win in the second qualifying round.

Despite the setback, Jordaan offered words of encouragement to the South African team, commending their dedication and looking ahead to the future.

“We sympathize with our players and the entire team after this tough result. However, the gap between South Africa and Nigeria is narrowing. Congratulations to Nigeria for advancing, but remember, 2031 is just six years away,” he stated.

“We are building a team for 2031, and many of these players will be 20 or 21 years old by then. Today’s experience will be invaluable in the long run.”

He also expressed gratitude to the team’s leadership and staff for their commitment.

“Thank you to the HOD and the entire squad for your determination and hard work. Wishing you all the best,” Jordaan added.
