Kelechi Iheanacho spectacularly marked his Celtic debut, scoring a stoppage-time penalty to hand the Hoops a 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian forward, who joined the Scottish Premiership champions on a free transfer earlier this month, started the match on the bench before replacing Daizen Maeda in the 70th minute.

Maeda had opened the scoring for Celtic in the 55th minute, heading home inside the box after a precise cross from Marcelo Saracchi. Kilmarnock hit back through David Watson, whose powerful header from a corner left Kasper Schmeichel with no chance.

With the match heading for a draw, VAR awarded Celtic a late penalty for handball.

Iheanacho kept his composure, smashing the spot-kick into the top corner with the final kick of the game to secure all three points and preserve Celtic’s unbeaten start to the Premiership campaign.
