Sadiq Mahmud Could Be The Next Rated Super Eagles Right-Wing-Back
Not many African right-wing-backs have the qualities of driving forward and supporting a team's attack, as some would prefer to seat deep and just defend the ball.
To be a technically accomplished right-wing-back, one needs to be agile, have pace, be strong in marking the ball without committing unnecessary fouls and above all be intelligent.
Abubakar Sadiq Mahmud, 19-year-old is one right-wing-back that has a bright future ahead of him, going by his qualities and his intelligence with the ball going forward.
The Bida-born, Niger State (North-Central) Nigeria started his football career at a tender age with John Utaka football Academy, then moved to Flash Arrow FC, after a while, he got picked up by scouts from Fomwan FC, before joining Lapai Football Academy to continue his development.
Lapai Football Academy is a well-established platform, known for its best structure in training and development, exposure and providing opportunities for talented players to jump-start their professional football careers with the ultimate goal of moving outside the shores of Nigeria.
Mahmud models his game around world-class right-wing-back like Reece James (Chelsea) Walker (Manchester City), Denzel Dumfries (Inter) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool).
His offensive qualities surpass his defensive limitations, making him a prospect for that position.
With a body weight of 65kg and a height of 1.85m Mahmud is excellent and cautious with his tackles, as he also has a zeal for scoring goals with his right foot, being his best.
