Sadjo Picks 1st Nigerian Ticket To 2022 World Championships, Commonwealth Games

Isamel Sadjo has emerged as the first National champion from the 2022 Nigerian Athletics Championships, reports BSNSports.com.ng.


Day One of the championship got underway today at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin with the track events.


Sadjo claimed victory this morning in the men's 10,000m as he pulled away from former champion, Emmanuel Gyan to secure his 9th National title overall in all events. 


Meanwhile, in the men's 110m Hurdles, Prosper Ekporere was the fastest overall, running past Alex Al-Ameen to win heat 1 in 13.88 seconds and the latter 2nd in 14.21 seconds.  


In heat 2, Abejoye Oyeniyi booked his slot in the final clocking 14.02 seconds, over Samuel Osadolor who was 2nd in 14.38 seconds.


The 2022 National Trials in Benin, is for qualification for the World Championships billed for Oregon, USA and Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
