Non-league side, Saki United defeated favourites, 3SC (5-4) on penalties at the Lekan Salami Stadium to reach the final of 2022 Oyo State Aiteo Cup.

The Oluyole Warriors progressed to the semi final last week after beating Corner Stones FC 2-0 at the Olubadan stadium. After first 45minutes, 3SC settled for a goalless score with few scoring opportunities. 

At the restart of the second half, Emmanuel Lucky put the Oluyole Warriors ahead with a nice finish at the 53rd minute. The left footed forward thereafter grabbed a brace for 3SC 70th minute to give the defending champion 2-0 lead.

3SC appeared to be getting into their stride, but Saki United were unfazed at this setback to their ambitions and they continued to advance up field at every opportunity.

And six minutes before the interval they got their reward when winger Okesola Ayuba fired past Dare Dede after the warriors had failed to calm the pressure. Saki United first goal definitely whetted the crowd’s appetite and they didn’t have long to wait for the contest to take another twist.

However, a late penalty decision in favour of Saki United by the man in the middle was debated among the spectators but united wasted no time to provide the leveller courtesy of Ayorinde Musa.

During the penalty shoot-outs, both teams gave good accounts of themselves with brilliant kicks not until the captain of the Oluyole Warriors, Waheed Omololu produced a horrendous penalty miss on what was a disastrous moment for fans.

 Shooting Stars lost 4-5 on penalties.

In the first semi final match, Oyo Housing FC also zoomed to the final 3-2 via penalties after a one-all draw against Oyo 'A.
