Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah could be out of Egypt's friendly match against Nigeria’s Super Eagles in Cairo on 14 December as part of the team’s build-up to the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
The fixture is seen as a high-profile warm-up, pitting Egypt’s seasoned squad against Nigeria’s top stars.
Salah is reportedly set for showdown talks with the Egyptian FA over his international commitments.
Egypt manager Hossam Hassan is expected to call the 33-year-old up to the national side’s training camp on December 12th ahead of a friendly against Nigeria two days later at the Cairo Stadium.
This means Salah would miss Liverpool’s crucial Champions League clash with Inter Milan and a Premier League game with Brighton.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Salah would prefer to remain with his club for these two games before heading to play in AFCON. Salah was granted a similar request that saw his joining up with Egypt delayed, earning the ire of some fans back home.
The winger is now set to undergo showdown talks with Hassan and the Egyptian FA in an attempt to avoid such tensions.
