Benin Republic side Coton FC has stepped up preparations for the 2025/2026 domestic and continental campaigns with the arrival of former Super Eagles assistant coach Salisu Yusuf, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Coton FC narrowly missed out on the league title last season, finishing behind Dadje FC with 60 points from 32 matches.

In a bid to reclaim the top spot, the club’s management secured the services of Yusuf, who replaces Frenchman Victor Zvunda following his departure at the end of last season.

Club chairman Lionel Talon revealed that several players are also expected to leave as part of the team’s restructuring.

Yusuf, who previously coached the Dream Team and served as an assistant to former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, officially resumed training with the squad on Tuesday.

One of his key mandates is to rebuild the team and guide them back to the summit of the Benin Premier League.

In addition to their domestic ambitions, Coton FC will also compete in the CAF Confederation Cup, targeting a place in the group stage.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the preliminary draw will take place on August 9 in Tanzania.
