Samuel Eto'o's Fecafoot Faces Criminal Charges

Samuel Eto'o, president of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot), is now facing legal scrutiny as he has been summoned before the Special Criminal Court, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Eto'o, who has previously drawn criticism for his ties to a sports betting platform, is once again under fire—this time from local football clubs.

These clubs have taken legal action, accusing him of embezzlement during his tenure at Fecafoot.

One of the main voices behind the allegations is Justin Tagouh, former chairman of the board at Bamboutos FC—the latest club to withdraw from the Cameroonian championship just a week ago.

Tagouh also criticized Fecafoot for failing to distribute state bonuses and subsidies properly.

 “Between 2022 and 2024, several billion CFA francs were allocated to support competitions, referees, and clubs,” said Tagouh.

 “However, these funds were concealed from club presidents and later misappropriated by the federation.”

He added that there has been no clear system of accountability.

 “Fecafoot has failed to provide a transparent explanation for the use of these public funds. The money is gone, and instead of returning it, they continue to demand supporting documents as a delay tactic. This is why several club officials have now referred the case to the Special Criminal Court", Afrikfoot explained.

The investigation is expected to further deepen tensions within Cameroon’s football community as scrutiny over financial mismanagement intensifies.
