Sanwoolu Hosts Chelsea Legend In Lagos
On Monday, February 3, 2025, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu hosted former Chelsea FC star and African football icon Didier Drogba at the Lagos House in Marina. The visit was part of an engagement between Team Drogba, representatives of the E1 Racing Team, and the Lagos State Government.
The meeting highlighted Drogba’s significant contributions to football and his philanthropic efforts. A video shared by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Jubril Gawat, captured the warm reception, showing Governor Sanwo-Olu and Drogba exchanging a handshake.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of collaboration between sports and community engagement, reflecting the state’s commitment to promoting sports development.
Didier Drogba, born on March 11, 1978, in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, is renowned for his stellar football career, including being a two-time African Footballer of the Year and the all-time top scorer for his national team. Beyond his football achievements, Drogba is deeply committed to philanthropy, founding the Didier Drogba Foundation in 2007 to support various initiatives in his homeland.
The visit underscores Lagos State’s dedication to fostering partnerships that enhance sports and community development.
