Dipo Sanya on Saturday emerged overrall winner of 2022 IBB Lady Captain's Cup, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Sanya who won with 73 gross said he was not surprised to emerge as winner.

"I am fine and elated playing the game of golf with my friends and emerged the overrall winner, thank God i won with 73 gross. I am not surprised that i won because I prepared for it and this Is not the first time to win tournament."

A total of 220 amateur golfers swung for honour in this year’s IBB International Golf and Country Club Lady Captain’s Cup tournament which tees off Saturday’s morning, March 26 at the prestigious IBB golf course in Abuja.

The tournament which is an annual event will signal the end of the Mrs Mary-Rose Richard Obiora-led Lady Section of the prestigious IBB International Golf and Country Club.

Addressing journalists after the tees off, the out-going Lady Captain, Mrs Mary-Rose Richard Obiora, described her tenure as eventful and commended the IBB Golf club’s ladies for their unflinching support throughout her reign.

Mary Rose Obiora said, "today is a special day for me. I feel highly elated because all programmes penciled down since i started were executed without shifting anyone. The members of my committtees have been wonderful, the Ladies have been wonderful, the convener and the Chairperson of today event, Mrs Ngozi Veronica has been so wonderful and several other people.

"The most memorable programme during the one year tenure Is the Ladies Open. We chose a team that cover the entire country. Nigeria culture was portrayed and we also had several countries that atttended the programme.

The convener of the tournament and former lady captain, Osuhor Ngozi Veronica said though it is the tradition of the Club to treat every lady captain to a special celebration with lots of activities within and outside the club, the outgoing captain went a step further to put smile on the faces of the prisoners by visiting prison.

"The outgoing Lady Captain Mary Rose Obiora is a special person. She will be remebered for spending more of the money she made on Charity, visiting the prison, hospital and the less-previledge homes. She visited those women who are in prison custody in Suleja and you need to see the joy on their faces and that goes a long way in touching lives. Also, she introduced Past Lady Captain Tournament. Normally We do Past Lady Tournament but always organised by the past Ladies themselves. And that Is an innovation that we believe that subsequent Lady Captain will emulate."
