Scottish Premier League: Rangers Boss Urges Players To Emulate Dessers

Rangers head coach Martin Russell has praised Super Eagles forward Cyriel Dessers while delivering a stern message to his players following their 1-1 draw against Motherwell in their Scottish Premier League opener, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Russell expressed disappointment with the overall performance, stressing that players would be judged by their commitment and displays throughout the season.
However, he singled out Dessers—who featured for just 28 minutes—for his effort and attitude.
“Some of them need to drop their ego. I’ll look at us tactically and take responsibility for my part,” Russell told Sky Sports.
“Cyriel Dessers is the only one we’ve actually had a bid for, and he comes on and works tirelessly. Some of them need to look at him and set that example,” the Rangers boss added.
Russell warned that players unwilling to embrace the demands of playing for the club could be left behind.
“They need to understand what it really takes to play for this football club not just when times are good. We’re only one game in, but we need to quickly figure out who wants to listen, who will fight, and who will run when it gets tough,” he concluded.
Dessers has been linked with a summer move away from Ibrox, with Greek side AEK Athens submitting an offer, though negotiations have reportedly stalled in recent weeks.
