Hosts Morocco began their Africa Cup of Nations campaign on a positive note, securing a 2–0 victory over Comoros in the tournament’s opening match on Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Second-half goals from Brahim Diaz and Ayoub El Kaabi sealed the Group A win at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, as the Atlas Lions extended their world-record winning streak to 19 consecutive matches.

After a controlled first-half display, Morocco broke the deadlock in the 56th minute when Diaz calmly finished to give the hosts a deserved lead. The goal eased early nerves and underlined Morocco’s dominance as tournament favourites.

Ayoub El Kaabi later doubled the advantage, ensuring maximum points for the hosts and a confident start to their bid for continental glory.

The victory places Morocco in a strong early position in Group A as they look to capitalise on home support and maintain momentum throughout the competition.
