Senator Oluremi Tinubu Opens 39th Women’s Club Championship

The 2025 Women's African Volleyball Club Championship opening ceremony highlighted the vibrancy of Africa, showcasing the colour and diversity of Nigeria, the homeland of Customs, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
Hundreds of fans filled the Moshood Abiola Sports Indoor Hall to witness the official opening of the 39th edition of the continent’s most prestigious club event.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu (CON), the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and attended by CAVB President Bouchra Hajij and the Controller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, among other distinguished guests.
The ceremony began with performances that included music, traditional Nigerian dancers, and displays of art and culture, evoking strong emotions among the audience as many wept and bowed their heads in reverence to the moment.
Sixteen clubs representing ten African countries came together, symbolizing Africa's unity and highlighting the remarkable progress of the sport on the continent.
This marks the second time West Africa has hosted this tournament, having last done so in 1996. It is also the first time the event has taken place in the city of Abuja.
