Senegal Ends England Dominance Over Africa Team With 3-1 Victory

By Admin

Senegal won a friendly match at the City Ground 3-1 on Tuesday, thanks to goals from Ismaila Sarr, Habib Diarra, and Cheikh Sabaly, making them the first African team to defeat England in 22 encounters.

While England suffered their first loss in four games under new manager Thomas Tuchel, Senegal extended their winning record to 24 games.

Jude Bellingham’s late goal was disallowed for a handball in the build-up.

In the seventh minute, Kane gave England the lead when Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy saved Anthony Gordon’s attempt but spilt the ball into the striker’s path.

This was ten changes from Saturday’s uninspiring 1-0 victory over Andorra in the World Cup qualifying round.

In the 40th minute, Sarr poked in Nicolas Jackson’s cross after catching Kyle Walker dozing off, giving the home team their first goal under Tuchel.

When Diarra grabbed a ball over the top and shot through keeper Dean Henderson’s legs in the 62nd minute, the visitors doubled their lead.

After the final whistle, England fans jeered Sabaly’s goal deep into stoppage time.

Senegal hammered Henderson with nine shots on goal compared to England’s four, including Sarr’s early header that the goalie missed.

In the first half, Gordon wasted a fantastic opportunity to give England a two-goal lead when he missed Walker’s close-range cross.

Before Senegal added their third, Mendy made a fantastic last-minute save to deny England what would have been an equaliser from Bukayo Saka.
