Senegal Face Morocco In 2023 U17 AFCON Final

Either Senegal or Morocco U17 national team will emerge the champions of the 2023 CAF U17 African Nations Cup as both teams have booked the final tickets, BSNSports com.ng can report.

This follows their tough semi-final victories through penalty shootouts to qualify for the final against each other.

In the semifinals on Sunday, Senegal had defeated Burkina Faso before Morocco edged Mali to set up a final duel against each other.

In an exhilarating showdown, Morocco emerged victorious after 6-5 victory in a thrilling penalty shootout after a goalless draw against Mali in the gripping 90 minutes of the AFCON U17 semifinals. The Moroccan team showcased resilience and determination as they secured their spot in the final, marking a historic milestone for their U17 squad. This will be their first-ever appearance in the AFCON U17 final.

Earlier on Sunday, Senegal in the first semi-final of the U17 African Nations Cup defeated Burkina Faso 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 regulation time draw.

Still enjoying their victory over Nigeria's Golden Eaglets, the Junior Stallions of Burkina Faso came into the game with a lot of energy.

But Senegal netted the opening goal just before halftime through Abdou Aziz.

The Burkinababes improved their performance in the second half and they were able to level the game through Windlsida Ouedraogo with a stunning strike from outside the box.

They went into the penalty shoot outs and the Senegalese were able to come out victorious.

The final will be played on Friday 19 May 2023 at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers at 22h00 local time (21h00 GMT). Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso and Morocco are the four countries that will represent Africa at the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup in Peru.
