Senegal Receives CAF Appeals Committee Verdict As CAS Issues Statement

After three weeks of anticipation, Senegal has received the reasoned decision from the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) appeals committee, marking a crucial step in the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final saga, BSNSports.com.ng repprts.
The ruling paves the way for the Senegalese Football Federation to file an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), challenging CAF’s decision to award Morocco the 2025 AFCON title by default.
Matthieu Reeb, Director General of CAS, commented on the matter:
“The CAS is perfectly equipped to resolve this type of dispute, with the help of specialized and independent arbitrators.
"We are aware that teams and fans want clarity as soon as possible, and we will ensure that the arbitration process proceeds swiftly, while respecting the right of all parties to a fair trial.”
The development intensifies the spotlight on African football’s governing bodies, as stakeholders await a final resolution that could reshape the 2025 AFCON outcome.
