Senegal Set To Bid AFCON 2027

Senegal's Minister of Sports Yankhoba Diatara has confirmed that the country is ready to bid for the hosting right of the 2027 African Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng understand.

The minister made the statement when he hosted the Teranga Lions who had just returned to the country from the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

"The rules of the instance to host such an event have changed with the number of teams which increased from 16 to 24 teams, to have approval, it is necessary to have 6 to 8 stadiums to be able to organize the competition.

From this perspective, there are plans to build a stadium in Saint-Louis, the cost of which is estimated at 16 billion", he said.

Senegal last hosted AFCON in 1992 and Cote D'Ivoire emerged as the champion.
