Former technical director of the Italian Serie A giants AC Milan Paolo Maldini has regretted the acquisition of Nigeria's Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze, US International Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus Cheek, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Chukwueze joined the Rosonerri this summer from the Spanish La Liga side Villareal for a huge transfer fee.

The former Italian defender made the statement while speaking to Italy news outlet La Repubblica on Friday.

“There was no need to sign Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic and Chukwueze,” Maldini said.

“You cannot compare the previous four transfer windows to the last one. Milan had different quality options, unlike this summer.

“I would like to point out that all the players who arrived were approved by me, nothing or no one was ever imposed on me, also because I would’ve left the next day", he added.

Chukwueze scored his first goal for the San Siro side during the week in the Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund.
