Spanish La Liga club Sevilla has officially confirmed that Nigerian forward Akor Adams has sustained a muscle injury, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Adams, a former Flying Eagles standout, had only just returned to action after nearly three months on the sidelines. However, fresh concerns emerged following Sevilla's recent La Liga clash against Atlético de Madrid.

On Tuesday, the club's medical team revealed that Adams suffered a muscle injury in the rectus femoris of his right thigh. The issue was detected after he reported discomfort during Sunday’s match.

“Akor Adams has a muscle injury in the rectus femoris muscle of his right thigh, which was detected after experiencing discomfort in the final La Liga match against Atlético de Madrid,” read a statement on Sevilla’s official website. “The Nigerian player will begin his recovery process this Wednesday.”

The 25-year-old striker joined the Rojiblancos from Ligue 1 side Montpellier during the January transfer window.
