Edidiong Ezekiel scored a controversial penalty for Remo Stars in the 87th minute to win the warm-up game against Shooting Stars Sports Club. The Southwest derby was played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos on Friday, 23rd December, 2022.

The match which was organised to commemorate Lagos State Football Association Chairman, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi saw the two Nigeria Professional Football League sides showcasing what they have for the new season which is expected to kick off in January, 2023. The former First Vice President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) marked his 60 year birthday in a special way where 60 children benefited scholarship to be sponsored by Seyi Akinwunmi Charity Foundation. 

Being a friendly match with nothing much to fight for, the two teams didn't take the match too serious just passing around the ball without serious goal threat attempts. 

However, a controversial penalty was awarded to Remo Stars with three minutes to the end of the game, the penalty which converted separated the two sides. Last season, Remo Stars got better of 3SC in the NPFL.
