Shocker! CAS Likely To Uphold CAF Appeal Committee Decision – Paris-Based Lawyer

Fresh developments have emerged in the ongoing African football controversy as a Paris-based lawyer Romain Bazzini has suggested that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) is likely to uphold the decision of the Confederation of African Football Appeal Committee, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The dispute follows CAF’s decision to strip Senegal of the Africa Cup of Nations title and award it to Morocco, a ruling that has sparked widespread debate across the football community.

Dissatisfied with the verdict, Senegal officially lodged an appeal at CAS, seeking redress and a possible reversal of the decision.

However, a lawyer based in Paris with prior experience working with CAS has indicated that the odds may not favour the West African nation. 

According to the legal expert, there is a strong likelihood that the arbitration body will side with CAF’s ruling.

“I would say there is a 75 percent chance that the CAF decision will be confirmed and that Morocco will remain champion,” the lawyer stated.

"A clear reminder that the law rules first and foremost based on facts and regulations, not emotions."

"The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will simply verify whether Articles 82 and 84 of the Africa Cup of Nations regulations were violated."

"Contrary to what is being circulated, it was not necessarily the referee’s duty to stop the match immediately."

"He had 48 hours to submit his report, including any reservations from one of the teams, which Morocco appears to have done within the deadline."

If upheld, the decision would firmly establish Morocco as the legitimate winners of the tournament, bringing closure to one of the most controversial episodes in recent African football history.

CAS is expected to review all submissions from both parties before delivering its final verdict in the coming weeks.
