Shooting Stars Begin Continental Campaign Against Tunisia's CS Sfaxien

Nigeria Premier Football League side Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) will face Tunisian outfit CS Sfaxien in the first preliminary round of the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup following the official draw, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Ibadan-based club, which secured a third-place finish in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season to qualify for continental competition, has been paired against CS Sfaxien, who also finished third in Tunisia's Ligue Professionnelle 1.
The first leg of the tie is scheduled for 6 September, while the return leg will take place between 11 and 15 September, with the aggregate winner advancing to the next qualifying round of Africa's second-tier club competition.
The fixture presents a significant challenge for Shooting Stars, as CS Sfaxien are among Tunisia's most successful football clubs and possess considerable experience in CAF inter-club competitions. According to the latest CAF Club Rankings, the Tunisian side is ranked 51st in Africa, highlighting their pedigree on the continental stage.
For Shooting Stars, the encounter marks another opportunity to re-establish themselves in African football after earning a return to continental competition through an impressive domestic campaign. The Oluyole Warriors will be aiming to build on their strong league performance and make a positive impact in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The winner of the two-legged contest will progress to the next stage of the competition as the race for a place in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage continues.
