Shooting Stars Return To Continental Football After 27 Years

Nigeria Premier Football League side Shooting Stars SC have secured a return to continental football after a 27-year absence, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Before the turn of the millennium, the Oluyole Warriors were among Nigeria’s regular representatives in African club competitions.

The Ibadan-based club last won the Nigerian league title in 1998 and subsequently featured in the 1999 CAF Champions League. Since then, the team had been absent from the African football scene.

Despite suffering an away defeat to Niger Tornadoes in Minna on Sunday, Shooting Stars managed to maintain third position on the NPFL table after Ikorodu City FC suffered a surprise home loss to Rangers International.

The result confirmed Shooting Stars’ qualification for continental football next season, marking a significant milestone for the historic club and their supporters after nearly three decades away from the continental stage.
