Silva Explains Chukwueze’s Absence In Fulham's Win Over Leeds United

Fulham manager Marco Silva has revealed why new signing Samuel Chukwueze was left out of the squad for Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Leeds United, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Chukwueze joined the Cottagers on loan from AC Milan on transfer deadline day and only linked up with his new teammates on Thursday after returning from international duty with Nigeria.

Although many expected the 26-year-old winger to make his debut at Craven Cottage, Silva decided it was too soon to include him in the matchday squad.

“Chukwueze couldn't start probably he doesn’t even know all of his teammates’ names yet,” Silva said after the game.

“He arrived on the last day of the window, had just two training sessions, then went away to play for his country. He needs more time to settle before we can count on him.”

Fulham secured all three points against Leeds without the Super Eagles star, but Silva hinted that Chukwueze could be in contention for their next fixture once he has adapted to the team’s rhythm.
