Simeone Optimistic Over Lookman Availability for Bilbao Clash

Ademola Lookman could return to action for Atlético Madrid in Saturday’s La Liga clash against Athletic Bilbao, after missing the trip to Elche CF due to injury concerns, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Head coach Diego Simeone confirmed the Nigerian forward is progressing well after experiencing discomfort in his abductor during last weekend’s Copa del Rey final.

Lookman has since been training individually as part of his recovery process and was left out of the matchday squad for the Elche fixture as a precautionary measure.

Simeone, however, expressed optimism about the player’s availability for the weekend.

“It’s possible that both Sorloth and Lookman will already be available on Saturday, based on what the doctors are saying,” the Atlético manager said.

The club’s medical team is taking a cautious approach to ensure Lookman regains full fitness ahead of a crucial UEFA Champions League semi-final first-leg tie against Arsenal FC next Wednesday.

Atlético Madrid are keen to have the Super Eagles forward available for the high-stakes European encounter, as they continue their push on multiple fronts this season.
