Simon Leads FC Nantes Back To Victory
Sampson Adedeji
FC Nantes returned to winning ways on Sunday, with Nigerian winger Moses Simon playing a pivotal role in their 3-1 triumph over RC Lens, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
After suffering a heavy 7-1 defeat to Monaco last weekend—despite Simon’s impressive performance—Nantes responded with a strong display at home.
Louis Leroux opened the scoring for Nantes nine minutes before halftime, giving the hosts a well-deserved lead.
Simon extended their advantage from the penalty spot on the hour mark, but Lens quickly responded, with Neil El Aynaoui converting a penalty five minutes later to keep the visitors in the game.
However, Nantes sealed the victory deep into stoppage time when Congo international Meschack Elia struck their third goal.
Simon has now registered six goals and seven assists in 21 league appearances this season.
