Six Nigerian athletes will compete at this weekend's prestigious Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon, marking what could be the country's largest representation at a single Diamond League meeting, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The world-class event, which will take place at Hayward Field, will feature some of the biggest names in global athletics, with Nigeria's top stars aiming to make a strong impression.

The competition begins on Friday, July 3, with Ella Onojuvwevwo competing in the women's 400m event.

Action continues on Saturday, July 4, as five more Nigerians take to the track and field.

Favour Ofili and Kanyinsola Ajayi will contest the women's and men's 100m respectively, while Ezekiel Nathaniel lines up in the men's 400m. Chukwuebuka Enekwechi will compete in the men's shot put, and world record holder Tobi Amusan will feature in the women's 100m hurdles.

The strong Nigerian contingent highlights the country's growing presence on the international athletics circuit as the athletes continue preparations for the major championships later in the season.
