South Africa, Botswana And Zimbabwe Submit Joint Bid To Host 2028 AFCON

South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe have officially submitted a joint bid to host the 2028 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), marking a significant step in the Southern African region's quest to stage the continent's biggest football tournament, BSNSports.com.ng reports 

The confirmation was made by Botswana Football Association President and COSAFA President Tariq Babitseng, who expressed confidence in the joint proposal.

"We have put in a bid and we are confident with the infrastructure we have, as well as the vision of CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, who believes all regions should have the opportunity to host AFCON. As COSAFA, we feel we stand a better chance to host," Babitseng said.

The three Southern African nations are hoping to bring the Africa Cup of Nations back to the region after several years without hosting the prestigious competition.

If successful, the joint bid would see South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe combine their infrastructure and organisational resources to deliver the 2028 edition of Africa's flagship football tournament.
