South Africa Clinch Historic First U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Title

By Niyi Busari

South Africa have claimed their maiden U-20 Africa Cup of Nations title with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Morocco in Cairo.

The decisive moment came courtesy of Gomolemo Kekana, who found the back of the net to seal a historic triumph for the Raymond Mdaka-coached Amajita. The win marks a significant milestone for South African youth football, as the team lifted the continental trophy for the very first time.

The result meant that Morroco won the silver medal while Nigeria won the bronze medal. Meanwhile, South Africa, Morocco, Nigeria and Egypt have qualified for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile in September.
