Ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, the head coach of the Banyana Banyana of South Africa Desiree Ellis has unveiled their 23-man squad, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Ellis had initially named 36 players in her preliminary squad three weeks ago, and she trimmed it to 23 for the tournament.

All the players that won the 2022 Women's African Cup of Nations in Morocco made the provisional list but 3 of them including the captain Jan Van Wyk failed to make the final 23 for the World Cup.

Ellis also announced the three players who will be on standby. The three players are Nthabiseng Majiya, Amogelang Motau, and Regirl Ngobeni.

South Africa is in Group G alongside Sweden, Italy, and Argentina at the FIFA World Cup.
