South Africa Will Go Five Years Backwards If They Appoint Mosimane – Broos Warns ‎ ‎

‎South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has warned that appointing Pitso Mosimane as the next Bafana Bafana coach could set the national team back five years, BSNSports.com.ng reports. ‎ ‎

South Africa are currently without a permanent head coach, with former coach Mosimane reportedly among the candidates being considered for the vacant position. ‎

‎Mosimane is one of South Africa’s most successful coaches, having led Mamelodi Sundowns to the CAF Champions League title in 2016. ‎ ‎

However, Broos believes his appointment would be a step backwards for the national team.

‎“South Africa still doesn’t have a coach. ‎ ‎The candidate is Pitso Mosimane, a successful South African coach,” Broos said. ‎ ‎ ‎

“However, they know when he comes, they go five years back in time.” ‎ ‎

Broos also claimed that club owners and agents had attempted to influence coaching appointments during his time in charge. ‎ ‎

“Club owners and agents are calling coaches to influence the selection. I threw them all out,” he added. ‎“When someone called, I sadly flatly said, ‘I don’t talk with agents.’” ‎ ‎

Broos’ comments are likely to generate further debate over the process of appointing the next Bafana Bafana coach, with Mosimane remaining a prominent name linked with the position.
