Spain Secures Bayern-Bound Striker Edna Imade, Blocking Nigeria’s Recruitment Effort
By BSN Sports
Spain have officially won the international commitment of highly rated striker Edna Imade, ending Nigeria’s bid to bring the prolific forward into the Super Falcons setup, BSNSports .com.ng reports.
Imade, born in Morocco to Nigerian parents and raised in Spain had long been on the radar of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), with officials viewing her as a potential key figure in the team’s future. She held a Nigerian passport and had previously shown openness to represent the Super Falcons.
However, the Spanish Football Federation moved swiftly in recent weeks to complete the necessary procedures to secure her eligibility. The 25-year-old has now been named in Spain’s 25-player squad for the UEFA Women’s Nations League finals later this month, effectively cementing her international allegiance.
Imade has been one of the standout performers in the 2025–26 Liga F season, scoring seven goals in eight matches. Her rise follows an impressive 2024–25 campaign in which she netted 16 goals for Granada, which earned her a four-year contract with Bayern Munich. She is currently on loan at Real Sociedad and is scheduled to join the German champions permanently in the summer of 2026.
Nigeria’s attempts to convince her to represent the country ultimately fell short, as Spain moved decisively to clear all administrative hurdles and secure one of Europe’s in-form attacking talents.
