Sporting Lagos have emerged champions of the 2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Four after edging local rivals Inter Lagos on goal difference following a dramatic conclusion to the tournament at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo.

Nicknamed the “Noisy Lagosians,” Sporting Lagos entered the final round of matches knowing that a draw would be enough to secure the title. Although they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Inter Lagos in the highly anticipated Lagos derby, their earlier performances ensured they finished top of the standings.

Sporting Lagos accumulated six points from three matches, having opened their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Ranchers Bees before recording an emphatic 4-0 win against Doma United on Matchday Two.

Inter Lagos also finished with six points after bouncing back from an opening 1-0 defeat to Doma United. They subsequently defeated Ranchers Bees 1-0 before overcoming Sporting Lagos by the same scoreline on the final day.

However, Sporting Lagos’ superior goal difference proved decisive, earning them the Super Four crown and the accompanying ₦10 million prize money.

Ranchers Bees and Doma United finished third and fourth respectively, with all four clubs securing promotion to the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The title marks another significant milestone for Sporting Lagos, whose rapid rise since the club’s establishment continues to attract attention within Nigerian football circles. Their Super Four triumph further underlines their ambition and readiness for life in the top flight.

Inter Lagos, Ranchers Bees and Doma United will also take positives from their campaigns as preparations begin for the challenges of competing in the NPFL next season.

The final day of action in Ikenne-Remo delivered intense rivalry, drama and quality football, bringing a fitting end to a highly competitive Super Four tournament and setting the tone for an exciting new NPFL season.
