Bayelsa United and Bendel Insurance were both held to goalless draws at home as Matchday 13 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) produced a series of tightly contested encounters across the country, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

At the Samson Siasia Stadium, Bayelsa United were frustrated by a resilient Niger Tornadoes side, with neither team able to find a breakthrough in a scoreless draw. A similar outcome played out in Benin City, where Bendel Insurance were denied maximum points by Barau FC in another 0-0 stalemate.

In the Southwest derby, Ikorodu City edged Shooting Stars 1-0 to claim bragging rights and a crucial three points. The narrow victory boosted Ikorodu City’s league standing, as they climbed to third place on the log with 38 points.

Kun Khalifat also enjoyed a productive outing, defeating Kwara United 1-0 to leave the visitors empty-handed. Elsewhere, Warri Wolves secured a vital 1-0 win over defending champions Remo Stars, deepening the champions’ struggles this season.

Despite having outstanding fixtures, Rivers United remain top of the NPFL standings with 41 points, closely followed by Nasarawa United on 39. Ikorodu City’s win further tightened the race at the top.

At the other end of the table, defending champions Remo Stars, alongside Kano Pillars, Kun Khalifat and Kwara United, continue to battle to steer clear of the relegation zone as the season progresses.
