After Gombe United's 2-0 defeat to Sunshine Stars at the Pantami Stadium, Bala Nikyu has decided to step down as the Head Coach of the team following their confirmation of relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Savannah Scorpions were condemned to the second-tier division, Nigeria National League for next season, courtesy of a goal in each half from Promise Awosanmi and Lucky Nwafor. 

BSNSports scooped from a post on TotSports X app (formerly Twitter) that the well-travelled coach who took over the ruins of the club from Mohammed Babaganaru has chosen to take a backseat until the end of the season.

Nikyu will now assist in restructuring the team and scouting talent nationwide in preparation for next season.

The former Nasarawa United gaffer is available to provide technical support to the current technical crew whenever his expertise is needed.
