According to reports, Deputy Echeta has submitted a formal letter requesting contract termination with Rivers United, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

According to sources close to the player, "Echeta feels unsafe and unhappy at the club following the incident and wants to move on."

However, "Rivers United FC is insisting that he honours his contract, which still has several months to run," the source continues. 

The player's lawyer has released a statement expressing disappointment and frustration with the club's stance, stating that "our client's well-being and safety are paramount, and we will explore all legal options to protect his rights."
