Bethel Oji of Abia Warriors has explained how his side overpowered Akwa United to cement their Premier League status, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

Abia Warriors cemented their Premier League status with a commanding 2-0 victory over their South-South neighbours, Akwa United in the Matchday 37 encounter of the Nigeria Premier Football League played at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

A brace from Abia Warriors hitman, Sunday Megwo, who struck in each half, decided the tie.

Oji said: "We did everything to do tactically to get the victory. I approach every game as it comes. We create chances and lose them. We had to go to the drawing board to tell them to be patient in the box.

"We adjusted our tactical play and decided to play more outside the midfield by playing the ball to the wings and it yielded results."

With this result, Abia Warriors have confirmed their Premiership status for next season, and they will now set sail to Lafia, the venue for their President Federation Cup semi-final match against Kano Pillars on Thursday.
